CLIENT: Dubai Airports
STUDY TYPE: Baggage Offload & Reclaim Metrics
DATE: October 2015
This project is one of a number of studies conducted for Dubai Airports focused on establishing KPI benchmarks and monitoring performance on a regular basis and is set within the context of Dubai Airport’s efforts to maximize the efficiency of the passenger experience within the physical limitations of the existing infrastructure.
Conducting video filming based studies landside and airside naturally requires extensive and detailed security screening and a permission paper trail across multiple departments. i4Research has successfully completed this process on 6 separate occasions.
For this study we installed our filming equipment within the baggage offloading area and supplemented these with our in-house fieldwork team to record metrics relating to baggage vehicle dolly arrival times, staff numbers, offloading start/end time etc. In addition, cameras were also positioned within the baggage reclaim area of Terminal 3, 14 carousels in total, to collect passenger arrival times, occupancy profiles, and the baggage presenting and collection profile.
Critical to this study was for all elements to be conducted simultaneously to provide an accurate reflection of the inter-relationship metrics between the connected processes. A total of 72 cameras and 20 in-house staff were required to achieve this.
